Cerebellopontine angle

The so-called acoustic neurinoma is the most common tumor of the cerebellopontine angle.

Luckily, not all of these tumors require surgery because in many cases the tumors do not grow significantly. This means that regular check-ups are sufficient (wait-and-scan strategy).

Radiation or surgery is necessary for growing tumors. The attending physicians will discuss a variety of options with you so that you can make an informed decision.

If surgery is necessary, either an otologic or neurosurgical approach is advantageous. Therefore, depending on the approach surgery is performed by a specially trained otorhinolaryngologic surgeon or neurosurgeon, or by a team of physicians.
